how to make // arm strap phone case

Guess what... I finally did a video (reason why there was no post yesterday)! While it is not the best nor is it a Q&A I still think it turned out alright. I was not comfortable enough to do a Q&A but thought a sewing tutorial would be perfect! So I have made a arm strap phone case. I will say I got some inspiration for how the video was filmed from (www.lemontierres.com). She is pretty great, I will say. Go check her out.

So, here is the final product. Enjoy!

Works best in 480p ( I know it is really bad quality)

Thanks so much! xo

holiday favorites.

I have been loving a few things around my house that have to do with the holidays more than usual this time of year.

1// Candles are not really my thing but I have been loving this candle warmer I received from my sister. I am always afraid that something will catch on fire and this assures it will not! Get one here.
2// socks + heater // While I am always a fan of the heater not so much the socks but it has changed and I love socks so very much now. Especially fuzzy, Christmas colored socks.

3// hot cocoa // Most of the time I put down hot cocoa but when you get a hug box of it at the store, well it is tempting.

4// target and Christmas deco. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Thanks for reading. xo What are your favorite holiday items?

a few crafting tips

Thought I would share a DIY post since I have not in awhile. I have been crafting lately and have made a few awesome things and thought I would share some tips for you all crafters out there.

1. Have a dedicated space.
I often find a big table works great, lay down some newspaper and you are ready to go.

2. Keep it organized.
All my craft supplies is organized in two little 3 drawer plastic containers. I bought even smaller containers to put inside of it and it works out great.

3. Buy a few new things.
Wow, I just told you to go out and buy more things. Yes, buy a few more things to make something new but combining with your old supplies as well.

4. Find inspiration.
I am a creative person but often times I see something and it sparks an idea. Pinterest is very helpful for this.

thrift store finds (and websites)

We have this really good thrift store in my town and I love it. Love. It. Just in the past month I have found J.Crew to Chacos for under $3. I have also found this great website called thread up. They have many name brand clothes for really cheap prices. I just ordered an L.L. Bean vest from there for $5 (I had a 10 dollar store credit). I am super excited to get it. In the past month my thrift store finds have consisted of, Target shorts (that fit perfect), Levi Jeans (for .67 cents best. deal. ever.), and some Gap items. It is wonderful. Just thought I would share a few pictures and websites.

Thread Up: (the best thrift store website ever): http://www.thredup.com

Like Twice: https://www.liketwice.com/

got this for $5 ($10 store credit + shipping)
shorts $1 and shoes $3

I had a $20 store credit so it was practically free

 only $2 (retail $50+)

decorating pine cones.

It is after Halloween so i ahve the right to go Christmas craxy. Okay, maybe not quite yet because Thanksgiving hasn't passed but close. I celebrated the fall/Christmas by painting some pinecones while drinking apple cider and listening to Christmas music. Yes. It was glorious.

Awhile back I saw these ombre painted pine cones, so this was my inspiration. This is what I came up with...

While a planned camping trip went astray there was some beautiful scenery. I mean it was beautiful. It was a whole new perspective on the idea of a beach. I loved it. Just thought I would share some photos.

giving it all away // simplifying my life

I was recently inspired by this sermon and this blogger to simplify my life more. I realized I don't need an abundance of things or duplicates. So, I challenged myself to go through everything I own and give away what I don't need. Now, mind that I go through my stuff a lot but this time I think I was more straightforward. For example, I didn't keep something I never used but thought looked nice. As before I might have.

I went through my craft/sewing area (including my fabric), beauty things, purses, clothes, and books. I was so shocked on how much stuff I had that I never used. I came up with three bags full of things to give away and at least one bag of trash. Crazy.

This process can be time consuming, but I highly recommend it. You will be so shocked how much stuff you have.

When simplifying your life here are a few things I suggest:

1. Do you have duplicates? If so, give the one away.
No reason to have duplicates of everything, someone else could use it.

2. Have you used it in the past 6 months?
The likely hood of you using it again is slim to none.

3. The less stuff you have the less you have to clean.
Is is so nice not to have to clean up as much because I don't have as much.

4. Keep it if it's important, but don't keep everything.
Don't give away something that has memory to you.

5. With fewer things you can be so much more content .
If you don't expect to have as much you are more likely to accept what is in front of you.

all the stuff I had and was not using

all the extra toiletries I wasn't using

I don't own many books but I still had a few to give away.

This was my biggest one, fabric. I came up with two big bags of it.

I went from having two boxes full of beauty items to one.

What do you like to do to simplify your life? xo
