photography // it snowed in the south // part 1

If you have ever lived in the South, you know if it snows, it's a BIG DEAL. Last week was a BIG DEAL. It was not even a foot of snow, but places shutdown and roads were icy. As I am typing this we are expected to have even more snow tonight. Everyone is freaking out because it is the South, we own swimsuits not snow shovels. :) Plus, this has not happened in 25 years! Oh my. Anyway, we had a few snow days out of it and it was a lot of fun! So many adventures from, getting my boot stuck in the ice (and having to shovel it out) to falling into deep snow drifts.  I thought I would share a few memories and adventures I captured on camera.

The night before.

In the morning, yay!

I absolutely love this picture of our dog Little Man! He was just hopping around....lalalaa.

There were these HUGE snow drifts near the ditches we discovered by accident. Ha.

Who could forget snow cream? Yum.

Thanks for reading. Have a lovely day.

Update:

So, as I said it snowed again!  I think it was like 8 inches. Let's just say I am sick of the snow. But, of course I got my camera out and took some pictures. I didn't take as many pictures because it had already snowed and it wasn't as big of a deal this time around. Anyway, here they are....

style

Dress up for no reason. Just do it. This is what I did. I feel so sophisticated when I dress up. Makes me feel confident. That is one thing I love about fashion; is that you can pick clothes that make you confident. You want to be able to look yourself in the mirror and say "Dang. I look good." Its a good feeling. Trust me. This outfit was probably a little more $$ than I normally pay for things but it was worth it. Hope you have a lovely day.

guest post // I am a Hypocrite. We Are All Hypocrites.

Today my lovely friend Christina wrote a post about Hypocrisy. I don't know about you but I think she is an amazing writer. So enjoy and give her some feedback!

Hypocrisy is widely practiced by everyone all over the world. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, hypocrisy is defined as "the behavior of people who do things that they tell other people not to do."
One group of people known for being hypocrites is, sadly, Christians. Christians are seen by the secular world as people who judge everyone and think they are the best. When you type “Christians are” in google, the very first thing that pops up is “hypocrites”. Judging others is one of the main ways we as Christians are hypocrites. It’s the “holier than thou” attitude. It’s a shame because the Bible teaches us the exact opposite.
When Jesus is teaching the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7:1-2 he says, “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.”
Instead of judging people, we are supposed to love people.
In Matthew 5:43-44 Jesus says, “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!” Christians are supposed to love everyone.
I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather be seen as a genuine person than as a hypocrite. Being a hypocrite is inevitable, but the choice to be genuine is yours.
I can’t say that I’m a good Christian(and if you think you are, you’re probably lying to yourself), but I try my hardest to love everyone, no matter who they are. I fail every single day. I’m a hypocrite. Not just about judging others, but in almost everything I do.
In Luke 12, Jesus warns against hypocrisy.“Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees,” Jesus said. “They just pretend to be godly.” The Pharisees flaunted their religion in public for their own glory and not for God’s.
We have all heard the saying think before you speak. But if you really think about what you’re going to say, you can catch the hypocrisy before it escapes your mouth. It will probably surprise you how much of a hypocrite you are. But don’t be discouraged. We all face the same struggles and Jesus is always there to help you along the way.

photography // mountains

Recently we took a trip to the mountains and I have captured a few moments on camera for you! There were so many adventures that we went on. It was a great time to take a moment and reflect on what God has done for us. It was incredible because God let it snow on Christmas Eve and it stayed until we left! It was not much, but hey, better than none! I will take what I can get. I have grown to love exploring the mountains even more during this trip. Hope you enjoy and have a lovely Friday!

This stairway is endless. I mean, endless.
This was so much fun. It was a little nerve-wrecking because it lead over the creek (high above the ground) and we had no idea if it was stable or not. We did check the rope, but we had no idea what we were doing.  But us wreck-less teenagers just went for it! Ha.

Love this photo. Love it.
It's SNOWING! Yay. For a southern girl this is a BIG deal. :)
Take a moment, and let's just realize that Moriah caught her first fish! And I was forced to hold it (hence the gloves, although it was very cold).
 Katniss Everdeen moment. Woah.
This lovely dog sure did love the ear protection. Ha. Not.
Thank you so much for reading have a wonderful Friday!

moments jar

I am so excited to share with you my moments jar for 2014! I saw this on Pinterest and thought I would make my own. I used a mason jar and painted the lid. Then I cut up a bunch of pieces of paper to write on throughout the year. In this jar you can write happy, joyful, sad, and amazing moments. I am even going to write prayer requests and see what God has done with them at the end of the year. With everything I write down I will also write the date on the paper. I cannot wait to start this! Enjoy! Happy New Year!
